I do want to bump this creepy movie thread. I can never get enough horror and weird sci fi.

Adding another one from my list. The Dead Center (2018).

A hospital psychiatrist's own sanity is pushed to the edge when a frightened amnesiac patient insists that he has died and brought something terrible back from the other side. (imdb)

This was pretty good and reminded me a lot of Wounds. It has this unsettling dread throughout and plays upon the "is he crazy or is it real?" conflict with the main character. I also like the undefined "thing" that haunts this film. Like a curse, like an illness, like an existential portal that taints everything it touches, like a dementor, etc.

Updating this with The Master Cleanse (2016).

The Master Cleanse centers on a heartbroken man who attends a spiritual retreat, only to discover that the course releases more than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences. (imdb)

This is less horror than others on this list and has a playful, supernatural element to it. It reminds me in a lot of ways of Deep Dark with the physical manifestation of something mental/psychological happening. It's... Kinda weird.

Absolutely amazing. With the devotion to the buildup of a particular concept, the ending truly shocked me.

I thought this was really intriguing and mysterious. The characters were engaging as well. A commune trying to live off the grid out in the desert end up revealing themselves as a secretive cult that worships something out in the desert.

I spotted this one a while back I think. Is it done in the "found footage" format? I can't stand found footage horror movies. But maybe I'll give it a shot anyway if you say it's good.

Ah, yeah, it is. It doesn't rely on the "reality" of found footage though. Like they don't shake it around to try to make you believe this was really shot by hand.

Here, just in case. I'm not sure if I mentioned Spiral (2019) before.

A same-sex couple move to a small town so they can enjoy a better quality of life and raise their 16 year-old daughter with the best social values. But nothing is as it seems in their picturesque neighborhood. And when Malik sees the folks next door throwing a very strange party, something shocking has got to give.

A secret cult one that I enjoyed. I think I found it on Prime.

My list is almost at the end. I'll have to keep watching movies, lol
