Oh, way worst the UK was an independent state within a trading block. Alberta is a province within a country. They would have to come up with their own currency, their own military, their passport system. They would lose all their judges as they are federally appointed. They would lose access to all three of Canada's coasts and land lock themselves. They would lose interprovincial trade. They would lose free interprovincial travel, and they would lose a sizable loss of territory as native treaties say they can reject joining Alberta if they break off.
