An aside, on my link to Australia out of LA, I wanted to put my carry on under the seat in front of me. But the way the row was bolted to the floor in front of me, it was slightly off. I politely asked the lady sitting next to me if I could put it under the seat in front of her. For some bullshit reason she took offense to the request, and her husband/boyfriend, whatever, shouted at me. I ended up putting it in the overhead. I don't know how or why they took my tone as confrontational, but they did. All I could figure was that people hate flying, and get frustrated. I didn't push it at all. Because it wasn't worth it.
On my way home, landing in LA on that same trip, for whatever reason, being timing, the hub was packed, and I mean to the point there was no place to sit waiting for my transfer. And that sucks when you have hours of layover. So my guess is that the guy on the way there was simply frustrated with flying and took it out of me, even though I wasn't trying to start anything.
It is far worse in the case of this story, I just posted, because you combine booze with self entitlement.
Point being, when flying, be quiet, mind your own business, and obey the airline staff.
