RE: Noteworthy News
I get this image:

In attempting to get a urine specimen from one of my dogs, two vet techs were walking him around the property with one holding a soup ladle to catch any urine. It may have helped if they had gone somewhere like, oh, say, near a tree or bush so he had something to hike his leg on. Some years ago they suggested I get a urine specimen from my rather tense female dog by following her around with a pie tin.

Now I have an image of someone following a bear around using similar methods.

I just noticed in the Dempsey record field goal video, that back then, the so called "sticks" to score were posted at the end zone line. not at the back of the end zone. So Justine did not beat Dempsey in the longest field goal by yards but a few. Because today the "sticks ' are posted no longer at the front of the end zone line, but at the back of the end zone.

The longest kick in rugby history was just over 85 yards. This, of course, objectively proves that rugby is better than American football.

Dempsey kicked from his own 37.  Tucker from his own 44.  The goal posts are 10 yards back from when Dempsey set his record.  What is it you're saying?

United Airlines said Tuesday that 593 of its employees are facing termination for failing to comply with its Covid-19 vaccination policy, one of the strictest mandates for inoculation from a U.S. company.

More than 96% of United’s 67,000-person U.S. workforce complied with the vaccine requirement. The deadline to upload proof of inoculation, or the first shot if receiving a two-dose vaccine, was late Monday.

Roughly 2,000 United employees sought exemptions from the mandate, which the airline announced this summer, for religious or medical reasons. The Chicago-based airline had said staff to whom it grants such exemptions will be placed on temporary unpaid leave.

Love the unpaid leave idea.

The company I work for has taken a bit of a different tactic - though our business model allows for a lot more flexibility.

Unvaxxed employees can't go into any company facility, attend company functions, or travel for business without submitting to daily covid testing, and even then, they must have a bona fide exemption approved by our risk management provider.

It's a bit more flexible - however being unable to attend company functions or travel for business is going to be bad for some people's careers. Not mine, I'm vaxxed and I worked remotely before the pandemic.

I don't think United really has that kind of flexibility, though.

Cool. One question, who pays for the testing?

Also, it would be great if they jacked up the insurance rates for the unvaccinated, the same as they do for smokers.

Drunk Tries To Find Himself

Quote:A drunk Turkish man spent hours helping look for a missing person with a search and rescue party before realising they were looking for him.

Beyhan Mutlu, from Inegol in the north-western province of Bursa, had been drinking with friends when he wandered off into the woods.

His wife was unable to contact the 50-year-old for a few hours and she and his friends decided to alert the police.

He joined the group and inadvertently started looking for himself in the woods with the search party.
