Noteworthy News
RE: Noteworthy News
Rep. Paul Gosar has been censured and removed from at least one committee for a photoshopped anime video showing him attacking Joe Biden and killing AOC. Republicans have warned that the Democrats are setting a precedent that could be used against them in future.

I think a proper Democratic response to this warning should be a resounding, ‘Good! We hope you’ll have the integrity to censure ANY Democrat who behaves this way.’

After Taylor Greene the republicans were going to slap a dem once they came to power no matter what the offense.

Finally, a bit of news that doesn't make me want to put me bollocks in an olive press:

Jamie Hyneman Gets An Education Gig

Quote:Inventor and product developer Jamie Hyneman, also known for his work on the TV show MythBusters, has been appointed as LUT University’s Professor of Practice for a five-year term from November 15, 2021 to November 14, 2026.

“As a Professor of Practice, I plan to encourage and support student innovations at JHC. I also hope to participate in the university’s activity on a wider scale. For instance, environmental issues and different types of vehicles are especially close to my heart. These are things I’ve been delighted to find that LUT and I are very much aligned with,” Hyneman outlines.

In the new study, researchers tried to shed a brighter light on the topic with in-depth testing. The study was presented Saturday at the American Heart Association's virtual Scientific Sessions and simultaneously published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The researchers examined data from 10,709 generally healthy adults who were an average of 52 years old. They were participants in six different studies across the U.S. and Europe. Their sodium and potassium were measured with at least two 24-hour urine samples, meaning all urine produced in a full day, which is considered the optimal method.

During an average follow-up of 8.8 years, there were 571 cardiovascular disease events such as a heart attack or stroke. The researchers found that higher sodium levels, lower potassium levels and higher sodium-to-potassium ratio were all associated with higher risk.

My HMO is tracking these values this way, if I understand the reports on my electrolytes correctly. I have always been all over reducing sodium intake, but have found some holes that need plugging in my food intake. For instance, I don't salt any food, but even the CostCo chicken that I used to buy was in an "8% solution of water and kosher salt". I don't buy any chicken from CostCo as a result. I found a source of fresh (not frozen, and claimed to be hormone-free) unsalted chicken, and buy it there. It might be too late, as I only discovered this info in the last two years.

And have you heard that not only has he shown no remorse, he compared himself to Alexander Hamilton (who was subject to an attempted censure for allegedly mishandling a loan, a subject I don't remember Lin-Manuel Miranda including in Hamilton):

He also retweeted the video minutes after the censure vote.

A vote to expel wouldn’t be out of order at this point. Imagine if you worked for a private company and posted a cartoon of yourself murdering a co-worker. You’d be sacked so fast the air would crackle.

If only the rules didn’t require a two-thirds majority, which is unlikely to be reached, with exactly two Republicans treating it as bad enough for a reprimand. I’d liken the Republicans to a gang, but I recently rewatched Goodfellas and know that most gangs actually have standards over what they’ll allow members to do:

The US has it's first woman President! During Biden's recent physical, he was under general anaesthesia for a colonoscopy. For 85 minutes, Kamala Harris was President of the United States.
