It's not just about physical violence. The mental aspect needs to be considered also. If the organized thefts are repeated in the identified stores I wouldn't work or shop there.

I absolutely understand - no one want to work in an unsafe environment. But the stores aren’t giving ‘shortage of employees’ as a reason for the closures, so it seems that the employees don’t feel particularly unsafe.

I haven’t seen any figures on store employees being injured or threatened by shoplifters, but I’d like to.

Sycamore Gap Tree Felled

In a wanton act of destruction by person or persons unknown (also vandalizing cunts), a famed sycamore tree that stood next to Hadrian's Wall for the last few hundred years was felled overnight.

Bastards.

Follow up: a 16-year old boy has been arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

Stuff like that needs to have a harsher punishment.

My cousin's dumb ass son tore up The Field of Dreams and got off with a slap on the wrist.  I think they should have tied him to a post on home plate and let people pitch at him.

When another cousin was little, she called it Child Abruise.

a farmer in china apparently decided the Great Wall was an inconvenient barrier to his daily commute,  so he used an excavator to tear down a section of the UNESCO wall to make a short cut.

Too add - of course, the FOD was repaired and restored. That tree is gone forever. That's fucked up.

May it live forever in memory and photo.

Oh, look at that, it's not gone.

Oh, look at that, it's not gone.

I can look at pics of my dad, and remember great and not-so-great times with him ... but yes, he's gone. He died in 2007 and we've yet to make even one single memory since then.

Facile thinking. My dad is dead, and so is that tree. Your photo of the tree will not give more CO2 to the air or more nitrogen to the soil or more memories to anyone else, and your memory (and theirs!) will die with you and them anyway, and who's to care?
