I can think of several lines of thought that lead to an affirmative answer. One being that violence may be necessary to get rid of political opponents; another that it may be necessary to engage in violence to deal with those involved in the ongoing attempt to undermine democracy, the violence in the latter might be applied by legitimate authorities. That scenario is the one where I might answer affirmatively, while not supporting the violence at all.

Those aren't the only motivations, of course. There's also those that might argue that billionaires adorning lampposts isn't a terrible idea, for example.

Not a surprise to me, really.

What I really wonder, is what those numbers would look like in 1974. I'd bet the number of 'strongly agree' would be well under five percent instead of hovering around 1 in 5 Americans.

You know, THAT is an interesting question that should be answered. Gee, if there were a chart like that in 1974 for comparison, I'd say, based on your best of "strongly agree" probably being under five percent could show that between then and now, times sure have changed.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Someone explain to me how this is not a war crime:

Palestinian Detainees Routinely Undergoing Amputations For Handcuff Injuries

Quote:“Just this week, two prisoners had their legs amputated due to handcuff injuries, which unfortunately is a routine event,” the doctor said in the letter, according to the Haaretz report on Thursday. He wrote that inappropriate care at the detention facility has led to “complications and sometimes even in the patient’s death,” adding that “this makes all of us – the medical teams and you, those in charge of us in the health and defense ministries, complicit in the violation of Israeli law.”

Quote:The medical source, who spoke to CNN on Thursday on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said all the Gazan detainees they saw at the field hospital had all four limbs shackled, which the source said increases the risk of blood clotting and other health concerns.

Nazi Germany treated Allied POWs better than this, ffs.

It's a shame Biden lacks the gonads to end arms shipments under a US law forbidding their shipment to any nation suspected of war crimes. He's far too worried about electoral politics to care about atrocities.
