In a "moment" of passion" people lose control" and hormones take over !. Wake up; bastard children without families to sponsor or support are everywhere. All you had to do to avoid that mess is to "sign a contract with your mate"!
You said earlier that people can't be trusted with pills or condoms. What makes you think these same people will abide by a contract?
Boru
Contracts are more efficient and stronger in nature. Even countries and states abide to contracts that include penalties on breaking the conditions agreed on.
A third unbiased party - like a government- will keep the the contract's laws active .

Water, food, shelter. In that order. We have a series of difficult investments to make in new infrastructure, and we need to make them now. We need to make them now so that islamists and reich wingers will be alive and housed and fed to debate exactly why and how we should rid the world of the other for whatever excuse might be trending in future.
The contracts you have today about marriage are not "serious at all", actually they are made "ceremonial" in nature and government don't take them seriously -evidence is that sex is allowed without a contract in most countries-.
Generating newborns is made cheap; and a contract to "state that it isn't a cheap deed" is actually fought by many people who refuse to see that it causes "new souls" to be generated out of thin air.
Maybe generating "cash" out of thin air is a big issue to you, but generating "living human souls" is never an issue.
What a shameful route humanity took.

Exxon lobbyists go on record how they influence politicians to undermine climate change, as well as undermine efforts for solutions, distract from the pollution that oil causes, and of course they are working on to defeat Biden's infrastructure plan.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

You don’t seem to realize what a marriage contract in my country is, winter- but it hardly matters, since we have them/ and aren’t pumping out babies - we breed below replacement rate.... and yet we still have global warming.

The main news is that a United Nations climate panel has confirmed that the impacts of human-caused climate change are severe and widespread, and that while there is still a chance to limit that warming, some impacts will continue to be felt for centuries.

Yes, they are constantly coming up with (same) conclusions but no plan.
The solution seems to be simple - it seems the problem lies in organization. Here Bill Nye explains what needs to be done

I don't see human behavior changing nearly fast enough to affect the current climate crisis. Some time during the next 100 years the climate will become increasingly inhospitable to our current lifestyle and there will be a major correction in the earth's human population. It's something that needs to happen for humanity to continue to exist. It may cause humans to innovate and find new ways of surviving and controlling population, or it could lead to another long period of loss for civilization. We will never know but someday, someone may wonder why the frak those people of the 20th century were so irresponsible.
Why is it so?

Necessity, would be the answer. We caused global warming out of necessity, and we still haven't fully satisfied the initial goal.
That's why there's so much (and credible) opposition to rapid fundamental change. There are people still electrifying. Nations which have yet to fully modernize. Then they're significantly behind current developed worlds, even so. Those developed worlds economic reality depends in large part on this state of affairs.
It's not entrenched so much as it's the fabric of human civilization itself, for better - and obviously for worse.

At work.
We may be living through one of the answers to the 'Fermy Paradox'.
As in we don't see other advanced civilizations because they all 'Over tech' themselves into extinction.
The excesses of their development, polutant emissions, environment degredation/destruction, resource depletion and the conflicts to aquire the still needed dwindling items...
All lead to the inteligences simply wiping themselves out before they can get off their rocks.
*Assuming they aren't stuck at the bottom of a gravity well too deep to get out of.

It's not about changing people's habits, but politicians doing something. For instance, Nye is talking about new nuclear energy (fusion) and how it could solve all the pollution problems and then some.
So maybe world leaders could organize something like a global Manhattan-like project in which top scientists would hurriedly work on developing new nuclear generators. Nye is talking about fusion, but maybe they could first work on simpler forms of nuclear energy like thorium reactors.
As if there should be some new Ministry, like Ministry for the Future.
