RE: Something for nothing
Red herring?

Hardly.

You just don't know how to dispute that fact.

....

And another fun part - you will make driving unaffordable to the poor. But fuck them, right?

No, it isn’t a matter of disputing what you say (although I could). It’s that what you said is another dodge to keep from admitting you were wrong. But don’t feel too badly - changing the topic is a common ploy.

How am I making driving unaffordable to the poor? A lot of EVs are comparable in price to IC cars. There are used IC cars available, there’s no reason why there wouldn’t be used EVs available. Furthermore, the topic isn’t about eliminating IC cars, it’s whether or not EVs are better for the environment.

You simple minded cumstain....

You call me a hypocrite and a straw man arguer --- and I have NEVER said I like trucks (I don't) or stinky diesels (don't like those either).

You think that just because I don't buy into the leftie bullshit - hook, line and sinker (like you) that I'm some sort of Republican, Trump worshiping goat fucker who drives a truck, wears a big belt buckle and spits tobacco juice on every dog that comes along.

Wrong - dipshit.

I drive a little bitty car that gets good gas mileage - when I drive. (which isn't every day).

I like electric cars.

1) But - I know they are not the solution to any problem.

......

2) The gains made by everyone driving electric cars will come at a heavy environmental cost. You won't see it - because it will be in areas where they allow strip mining, or build coal, and natural gas fired power plants. You won't see the toxic shit that comes from the "recycling" of batteries - and they won't put the toxic radioactive shit from power plants in your back yard.

So you're fine with it.

You're happy to pollute and destroy other peoples environment as long as YOURS is nice and tidy.

.....

3) Electric cars are no solution to our problems. But - you do see a bunch of simple minded gits like yourself smiling, pointing at the rear of one and cheerily proclaiming "NO TAILPIPE - NO EMMISSIONS!!!"

Oh, looks like I struck a nerve on the end of your dick, how about that?  Not so much fun getting words shoved into your mouth is it?  Just swish it around in there and get the taste reeeal good because that's the same bullshit you've been dishing out.

1) So, on to address the substance (if any) of your post.  Let's see, you seem to be able to see the future because you seem to know that EVs will not solve any problem.  Great to know you're a member of the X-Men.  I'll call you if Magneto shows up.

2) This is a retarded argument.  First, you keep ignoring my point that power plants, even coal, burn fossil fuels far more cleanly than car engines do.  So moving the energy production from the car to the plant is a net environmental improvement.  Refute that, Professor-X.

Also, we already strip mine for coal and frack for gas, so those environmentally dangerous activities are and have been going on for some time and will continue for as long as we use fossil fuels.  For your information, lithium is not strip mined, it is pumped up from beneath salt flats in the form of brine and then extracted from other materials.  And yeah, it's certainly not environmentally pretty but that doesn't mean we can't improve the technology.  Oil extraction was once way worse than it is now.  Even so, you act as if fossil fuels are OK to keep using.  This is demonstrably wrong.  If we can trade one for the other and get an overall improvement, then we gone in the right direction.  Baby steps.

You also shit on the use of nuclear fuel generation, which is also far cleaner and safer than any fossil fuel.  This is backed up by numerous studies but you just ignore that, don't you?  That's intellectually dishonest.

The bottom line is that people use energy and that's not going to stop.  Our goal should be to use the least environmentally dangerous forms available while working to find even better options.  If one technology is 20% better, we should use it.  You don't get something for nothing, you colossal dick sucker.  Laws of the universe and all.  You work incrementally toward a future goal, a goal you and I will never see.

3) On this issue, if you see one, please feel free to kick him in the balls for me.  I'm not that git so stop rolling out your ire for me.  It makes you the stupid git.

Yes, of course. But you also need to consider things like the fact that the full solar constant is for surfaces perpendicular to the direction of the sun and ignores atmospheric absorption.

Also, this was specifically for the power of the US, so I limited it to just the US.

All of that is taken into consideration.  Still orders of magnitude more power available.

Considering those people are right about THE CAR having no emissions this just makes OLB the Git. The fact emissions come from the powerplant is a separate issue.

Boru
You really do not understand the economics of automobiles do you???

Pay attention.

The number one cost of EV maintenance is replacing the battery when it fails. And it will. Batteries do not have a long life. An owner who buys an EV new will preferably sell it just before the battery is projected to fail. If that owner goes too long and the battery fails he can either put in a new battery - or sell "as is" - for which he will get bottom dollar.

Prospective buyers know this as well (unless they are morons).

There will be no " fixer uppers" for the poor to buy. There will either be top dollar used - or junk that is not worth putting money into.

Sellers won't sell servicable but ugly, rusty cars -because there won't be any - because the cars will be scrapped much sooner.

It would be like this if IC cars drivetrains died and had to be replaced with new - not used. There won't be lots of used batteries to swap out with dead.

RE: Something for nothing
Of course he's full of shit. On the one hand he pats himself on the back for driving a car that gets great fuel economy. That's great for mid-20th century thinking. Then he shits all over any technology that will reduce the carbon load even more for half-baked, dumbass reasons. Typical dickhead thinking. I imagine him in the 19th century when crude oil was beginning to be harnessed. "Nope, we need to stick with whale oil! Fuck them damn whales. And burn all the trees while you're at it." Really, it's a sad thing when someone is so belligerent to advancing technology and so ignorant at the same time. We've seen this at every stage of technological development. There's always those people that refuse to budge. This is one of the good things about human life spans and death. There's a natural way to get rid of these people and it doesn't even include violence.

So bottom line, if you have something truly original to add to the conversation, please do so. But sticking to these old school, proven wrong, dumbass ideas is just dumb.

You keep claiming to know what I think - despite the fact you continually get it wrong.

You don' t know me, my motivations or what I think or like.

Fucking pathetic assmunch.
