[Quranic Reflection]: God is the light of the universe.

RE: [Quranic Reflection]: God is the light of the universe.
Trust me, fossils of multi-million year old lifeforms are real. Also, humans thought the sun "orbited" the earth for way more than a thousand years, and that turned out to be bullshit.

Well yeah, kind of bullshit, but it was also just the best idea they had at the time. It was their best model.

Your description does, by my mind, also perfectly describe the religious (and Koranic) worldview. It's now outdated but some still cling to it, largely due to indoctrination IMO.

Yeah, it's a form of indoctrination, but so is secular education. At least religious indoctrination provides a framework for a person's (potential) spirituality.

 Am I paraphrasing that right?

What happens when we're presented with the concept of "You can't grasp the 'Unknowable'?" Does down that path lie madness?

No, somethings are just "too much" for our eyes to look at; we even discovered normal objects in the universe that can turn you blind if you look at them:

https://lasvegassun.com/news/2017/dec/02...sion-to-m/

Quote:Research performed on the International Space Station shows prolonged time in space can cause temporary, and sometimes permanent, blindness, said the space station’s chief scientist recently on “Nevada Newsmakers.”

“One of the things we discovered in the last 10 years is that some astronauts, when they go into space, actually have vision loss,” said Julie Robinson, the chief scientist of the ISS. “A few of those astronauts have permanent vision loss that isn't reversed when they turn to Earth.”

You will lose vision if you look directly at the sun for a long time, even.

Yes, bravo. Wonderful examples of things that can, y'know, actually BE detected.

You've yet to expand on the 'You can't detect this other thing'.

Like, if it's not 'Detectable'?. Does it interact with reality in any other meaningful way?

At best, secular education leaves the "Gods?!?!?!" issue out of the curriculum. Mine did, at any rate (in the UK). It's the anniversary of 9/11 so some of the negative consequences of "providing a framework for a person's (potential) spirituality" are a....current topic. I devised a framework for my...er...I call it a faith, but avoided the term "spiritual" IIRC....dust thou facebookuth, Ahriman? https://www.facebook.com/CrusadingFaithfulAtheism
