Need some help.

RE: Need some help.
One of the most comprehensive is "Faith Versus Fact: Why Science and Religion Are Incompatible" by Jerry A. Coyne.

It touches on a lot of aspects how religion and its apologetics are wrong, deluding themselves and others.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Victor Stenger would agree.

The Great Transformation or A History of God. -Karen Armstrong.

If you want an even more roundabout take on gods - Selfish Gene - Richard Dawkins, and Botany of Desire - Michael Pollan. To any creature like us, ideas can compete for living space - and they do this by exploiting our compulsions. Faith, the confidence of hope and assurance of what we do not see.

The private character of anyone's god stands in for what they wish to see in the world. What they would make true, if it weren't.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So question I have is there any good books that you guys would recommend on this subject? I hope what I'm asking makes sense.

If you care to share... why did you walk "away from the Bible and God."?

Fact? Faith (by grace) is an integral part of a true walk with GOD... "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:9

By faith we understand... "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1

I tell you that with patient continuance GOD never fails, but rather evidently and continually proves (or "confirms one's belief")... "For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power." - 1 Corinthians 4:20 and GOD is irrefutably faithful.

Naysayers who have never lived this will typically, innately refute this... a plethora of true testimony to the contrary notwithstanding.

I hope all "come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:3-5)

The Holy Bible is the best book one can ever read!

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63

Wow, some people sound like they are stuck in 1950s.

Also, why is Bible better than Qur'an or Bhagavad Gita?

The "good ole" 1950's would be before my time... so - science fiction. I don't own a DeLorean. Smile

What is true, believe it or not, is the Scripture I quoted earlier, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63

"for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." - 2 Peter 1:21

That's the difference in principle and practice/reality between the Holy Bible and other books you mention.

The fundamental difference in belief? - "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12 - that is, the Lord JESUS, the CHRIST - the Living Word.

So, you are using Bible to prove Bible. That doesn't make sense because it is a circular argument.

Seriously, what reality is in the Bible?

The other religious people claim that their holy books are the only way to their version of "salvation" which is reincarnation, nirvana, 72 virgins in paradise, or clearing in Dianetics. And they have nothing more than their holy books to "prove" it, just as you do, so that makes you all on the same level of credibility or lack of it.

Can only repeat what it has heard/been told. You'd make a very good parrot. The religious certainly love the programmable with no independent thought.
