See, american churches are deficient in that respect. They're not exmples of inspired architecture with a hefty place in our history. They're sometimes steel but mostly aluminum buildings in a strip mall next to a polaris dealership owned by the pastor.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?

Yes, you are wrong.

The sincerity of my lack of god beliefs, is completely unrelated on whether or not I would go to a church for a marriage or funeral.

Churches, Mosques, Jewish Temples, Hindu Temples, are nothing but buildings to me. Some have very nice architecture, some, not so much.

The majority of my family, friends, loved ones, are theists of some sort, and many of them have been married, or have had they funeral services in some religious building or another.

Why would you possibly think (well, I have come to the conclusion that you don't actually think very much), that I wouldn't want to celebrate marriages or the lives of the recently departed, with my family and loved ones just because they take place in a 'religious' building?

Just because I am in a religious building with some sort pf religious services taking place, does not mean I don't want to be there.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Maybe????

I spent half a year working for one of the biggest, oldest, and wealthiest Baptist churches in Dallas.

Your wishy-washy self certainly can't be determining who is and who is not sincere.

I haven't gone to the UU congregation lately, mainly because of COVID and a desire to sleep in, but I've been a member since the early 2000s and used to be pretty regular about it.

It's not like the air inside a church burns us or we have a universal principle of never listening to sermons. There's no reason for an atheist to go if they want to, and it could be for a variety of reasons. I would think it would be a pretty tiny percentage that would refuse to attend a close friend's funeral just because it's held in a church (or temple or mosque or whatever).
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

I go to church less often than I used to, since they took out the beer taps and stripper poles.

Why not?

Here's a little test for you.

Please attempt to make a logical argument, in syllogistic form, for why an atheist could not work for a religious institution. It has to be both valid and sound.

1. premise
2. premise
Conclusion

Example of a sound and valid syllogism:

1. all men are mortal
2. Socrates is a man
Concision. Socrates is mortal

Each premise has to be sound, and the conclusion has to directly follow (valid) from the premises.

2. Socrates is a man
Concision. Socrates is a man

Bloody hell!

You would think this would be so easy, that even someone with Ahriman's muddled thinking would get it.
