I remember watching a Zoe Bee video that took on that book and Matt Walsh’s bullshit anti-trans kids book Johnny the Walrus.





Admittedly, I don’t quite agree with Jose’s contention that the morals they preach aren’t even all that stripped down from the adult versions, but I suppose that some people might not recognize much of a material difference between “they’re just playacting and people online* are going to make that fantasy a permanent reality for no clear reason” and “they’re just mentally ill.”

*Or a villainous vulture because of fucking course vultures are always treated as villainous.

Until he starts shoplifting or running red lights, I don't see what the problem is. Now, if he starts to think that he is some Elephant Messiah who is going to rise from the dead after being shot by some poacher, then, maybe there could be an issue, especially, if he convinces other elephants to participate in mass stampedes with him or something similar.

Unlike people, animals are what they are. They might only be confused if they are raised by other than their own kind.

I can somewhat understand not wanting to confuse children in such a way. If you're going to teach trans through a children's book, use humans instead of animals.

I mean, imagine being in class and a teacher asks you to name the animal in the picture. You're going to erroneously call it something it's not.

Fortunately, Zoe’s video explains exactly why that metaphor is bullshit. Namely, that species is written in stone and gender isn’t, and confusing the two risks sending the wrong message.

And that’s not even going into the assumption that becoming trans is somehow taking the easy way out of life…
