Brace yourselves... Christmas is coming!

RE: Brace yourselves... Christmas is coming!
Who says something can't come from nothing. We know God isn't real but the day off with pay on 25 Dec is very real! Go God!
We need more fake icons to give us more days off! My favorite God is the chocolate bunny. I love hot cross buns... In store any day now!
No God, No fear.

Aren’t hot cross buns usually an Easter treat?

Edit to add old joke:

Sweets trolley lady: Care for a scone?

Me: Nothing for me, thanks.

Lady: Pikelets and cream?

Me: No, nothing.

Lady: I’ve got some hot cross buns…

Me: Wear a long coat and they won’t show.

Mine isn't that bad... yet,  but it will be!
"She-who-must-be-obeyed" fills the house with what has become known as "Christmas Tat" I have learned that it isn't worth the effort to try to avoid it... just go with the flow and accept it.

Ok, it's happened, if there is a square inch of wall or window sill that isn't infested with Christmas Tat I can't find it. To make things worse, I was subjected to over 3 hours of Christmas music while the infestation was taking place! If I object then I'm accused of being a miserable old git! (the truth is I'm a happy old git!)

When my daughter's mother-in-law lived with them, the house looked like someone took ALL the decorations and covered everything in the house with Christmas gear. There was even a small Christmas tree for the back of the toilet (is that really necessary?).

This year I gave them my Charlie Brown tree. It's quite the change.

I have a couple trees made out of ornaments I put on the mantle and forget to turn on the lights most nights.

Interesting factlet: for all the schmegegge in America about ‘the war on Christmas’, the only actual ban outlawing the holiday was put in place by hyper-religious New England Puritans and lasted for 22 years.

I'll just remind you that you stole Christmas from the pagans. Nonetheless I will be celebrating me some Christmas!

Talk about all things December and Christmas here. I was going to wait until December 1st to post this, but Christmas never waited for November to end before, so why start now?

Go go Santa Clause!

I used to work for an old folks radio station in the middle of nowhere in central Virginia. It actually was barely paying more than I did pizza delivery. Anyway, from Thanksgiving to New Years, I would do 3 or 6 hour live shifts of playing nothing but Christmas songs.

My station manager would often nag me about my level of Santa vs Jesus songs. I can tolerate the Santa crap, but the religious crap annoyed me.

There are some beautiful Christmas carols that I still enjoy quite a lot.

You come across a lot like my best friend, also atheist , from Oklahoma. Even outside holiday music, my best friend John, also known as Hillbilly Atheist, would agree with you.

I simply cant get past the superstition, the Santa songs and generic songs I can handle. But the songs about drummer boys and kings are irritating as hell to me.

 Don't forget Oliver Cromwell.

Not sure about the Calvinists.

Easter is the most important event on the Xian calendar , but it's  Xmas for catholics. I think it's the stuffing oneself into a food coma, getting legless and of course the presents. I really enjoy giving presents. Receiving, not so much these days. I'm very hard to surprise and have more socks and shirts than I can use.

As a child and young man , I could eat tupperware and be just fine. These days I eat much less. Just about everything I like gives me shocking heartburn.

Pretty sure the Xians lifted December 25 from the roman god Deus Sol Invictus. I think it celebrates the winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Here in the southern hemisphere it's summer.
