Hubris is false pride.  It goes before destruction.  A haughty spirit before a fall.

I generalize the answer to any emotion, and it's hard to narrow down to that.  We can't think straight in so many situations, such as having to pee really bad.  Unless swimming in the lake, then I can truly focus.   Cool

excessive pride or self-confidence.

 According to google dictonary.com says the same. So from that, I have to disagree?
