the death of religion!?

It will attack viciously when its existence is threatened. Since the rise of science and reason, religion has had some declining numbers but the amout of people that take it to an extreme level has risen. Also, there are too many people that abuse the power of religion and use it as a control method that it will be here for a very long time. It is a very useful tool to get what you want. As long as people fear the unknown elements of life, such as death, religion will be here to stay.

Yet, in Europe it is just withering away.

Quite the opposite. People now have no idea what Christianity is. They're completely uneducated. They think that science is the same subject!

I think the decline is a good thing too. Religion has no place in power and politics. And a vast majority claiming to be Christian when they are blatantly not is more harmful than good.

It's going to be a tough fight to drive the religious dragon back into its cave. After all, religion is self perpetuating. The whackos are taught by their parents... who teach it to their kids.... who teach it to their kids.... Hopefully, as more and more people realize that religion is bullshit we can break this chain. That's why forums like this are so important.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Dead right fr0d0, science is respectable, Christianity is deluding yourself into thinking the slave master killed himself in the form of his son to let us off a crime our ancestors comitted thousands of generations ago.

hmmm..Martinis sound good. I think I will pass on the nose candy, and if you dont mind.. I will just watch the hookers and not partake. I'm on a diet, but I still like looking at the menu. A show would be nice..3 or 4 naked hookers wrestling in a vat of jello sounds just fine for me.

"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
