The character frequently engaged in time travel. So, the initials, "AF" followed by, "TT" for time traveler. The, "47" is from the fact that the numbers 4 and 7 come up very frequently in Star Trek lore.

Noice! I had no idea your username was so cool. What game? Is it any good? Star Trek RPG sounds nice. I might pick it up.

Also, in all my years of fandom, I'm somehow unfamiliar with the 4 and 7 thing. What's that all about?
Obviously, the fact that you think my username is, "so cool" identifies you as a fellow nerd, lol.

There have been many Star Trek role-playing games over the years. I don't remember much specifics about this one. It was similar to Dungeons and Dragons but set in the Star Trek universe. I remember that character attributes like strength and intelligence were in the range of 1 - 100 rather than 3 - 18 as in D & D.

Somebody noticed that when Star Trek uses numbers (such as Rigel IV or Rigel VII or Starbase 47) the appearances of the numbers 4 and/or 7 appear way more frequently than random chance would suggest. For whatever reason, writers seem to have a strong affinity for the numbers 4 and 7.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I was looking to change my name from my old name from TTA and when I signed up here. It was time for a change.

On the one year anniversary of my mastectomies (which were in 2009) I had a tattoo put on my arm with a breast cancer ribbon and the words 'Approaching Normal' which is the name of a song and an album by Blue October (one of my favorite bands and the mastectomies were done in October).

While trying to figure out what name to use I happened to look at my tattoo and my mind went to - Are We There Yet?

Still don't think I have reached normal...and there ya go, arewethereyet.

Sounds like apophenia. Lol. But, in fandom, apophenia can become reality, and being aware of the "4 7 anomaly," it can now be intentionally included.

What does your username mean?

From Wikipedia:

Quote:Belacqua is a minor character in Dante Alighieri's Purgatorio, Canto IV. He is considered the epitome of indolence and laziness [...] The relevance of Belacqua is also driven by  Samuel Beckett's strong interest in this character.

Dante uses him as an example of someone who refuses to commit to one belief or another until it's almost too late. Since I often seem to be the only one on the Internet who hasn't already decided what The Truth is, I use the name as self-mockery.

In Beckett's early fiction, Belacqua Shuah is a "student, a philanderer, and a failure."

Mine is a reminder that all messiahs are fake and that you should not trust someone who calls himself a messiah. The same goes with gurus, psychics, saviors, healers, seers, prophets, etc.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I  based mine on the Greek god Helios god of the sun and before that, I choose Sungula which is a Greenlandic name meaning sun. Both play into my IRL name.

Zebo, because it starts with "Z" it's at the opposite end of the aplphabet to my real name, Fat because when I started using it I was very thin (sadly seem to be growing into my nick as I get older)

My original username was Five because I have an affinity for characters with that moniker(I am Hrairoo on another forum and Five is my fav character on Umbrella Academy. When I first joined, I was a mixture of angry old atheist man stuck in a young man's body and visionary dreamer looking to escape the sinking ship of my current oppressive community).

When I had been here long enough to be able to change it, I upgraded to Ten which is double five, yet the 1 and 0 make me think of the supremacy of self. Ten is just a full number.

Yeah. Lover of lobsters is the content of the username. But what does that mean? Do you love lobsters so much that you oppose the killing and eating of them? -OR- Do you love the taste of their muscle tissue, especially when dipped in drawn butter?

That's two very different takes on the concept "lover of lobsters."

The fact that his avatar is a lobster on a plate leads me to the conclusion that lobsters are his favorite food.  Hungry
