A different perspective

RE: A different perspective
Just as there's suffering in life, but it's not the focal point of this mode of existence?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Ah, but it is. The more you suffer in the here and now, the better prepared you will be for the afterlife.

You figure you’re going to heaven or hell?

Neither. It's not that black and white.

Like life, and suffering.

It seems to me that you don't actually believe in this stuff in principle. We hear that life is for suffering, to improve us, and that's a good thing - but you balk at the idea that the afterlife is for the same thing. 70-80 years of improvement, some arbitrary cutoff date when we choke on the lobster. That's all we get. Just imagine..the whole of the afterlife filled with underbaked garbage immortals.

This present life is all about suffering, while the afterlife is more about enjoyment.

Ever occur to you that you might be describing your own life, not life itself?

Well, you think life is all about suffering - but that hasn't been my experience.

I get the impression that your life is a hot mess, and it informs your ideas about life itself - but, maaaaaaaybe.... it's just your life that needs improvement. Where's that soul forge when you could use one, eh?
