I actually don't care about "spoilers" in a story... unless it is a mystery story specifically. Telling me who done it from the beginning ruins its purpose.
RPG storylines though? I don't spoil the experience I'm after by learning every little nuance of them before i play. When I begin playing an RPG, it is the immersion I am after... and knowing a story better only immerses me all the more within it.
That being said, a lot of people love to play games to experience new things. I tend to spend more time reading about my games than I do playing them. I respect these people a lot, so I will denote spoilers when I deem it appropriate. Kind of wish I had spoiler-level commands (Green hide tag for things that shouldn't spoil it for anyone, yellow for those 'maybe it will' variety, and red for those epic endgame spoilers that can ruin entire games for people)
Quote:Sebastian? 0.o Sebastian 0.o Trying to remember a sebastian? 0.o I've been playing Rift a while now, have I forgotten a sebastian? 0.o
He was added in one of the DLC's.
Quote:Yes, i greatly missed a number of the scrapped abilities/trees. Blood mage was also implemented somewhat poorly (it needs a better leech, else why would it be a blood mage? :S), i still made it through hard, but it was a bitch.
I always specialised Arcane Warrior, the lack of that pissed me off. Force Mage sucked too.
Quote:And you are absolutely right about the story. I liked the sandbox feel, but unlike in DA: O: there is zero drive to follow a story to the end.
Yeah, some more foreshaddowing and a some more information about the lyrium idol would have been nice. Considering it was so important to the plot it received fuck all explanation.
Quote:I actually didn't care for Awakening much. Reintroducing Ogren (of all characters... Ogren? Eeew)... and I was really really hoping that the blood magi friend of mine from the mage origin would be a possible character The story seemed pretty slow in the beginning as well, though from what I hear it becomes much better as you find out about the Architect and whatnot.
Yeah, Jowan was taken back to the tower so I hope he's part of the uprising and is seen in DA3.
Yeah when you find out that the Architect caused the blight it gains so much more value.
Quote:I read that book, and indeed i like the idea of that being flemeth... but I somehow doubt it. If it *IS* indeed what Bioware intends to do with her, i might sing out of intellectual bliss. Hopefully the next dragon age will have an encompassing story to go along with it >_> I greatly anticipate the return of Morrigan and her baby, understanding just what happened to the champion and the warden (assuming you didn't kill the warden off yourself), and of course I can't wait to see Flemeth's utter annihilation of the Tevinter Imperium because mages are tasty
In Witch Hunt my Warrior warden went through the portal with Morrigan.
Quote:My favorite combination would be having my spirit healing mage formerly of the circle and my apostate blood mage team up with a returning Morigan, Varric, Isabella, and I want to see more blood mages that are not portrayed as morons or psychotic >_< Seriously... the 'temptation! Oh noes!' line is fucking weak. The demon cannot provide such things as I desire... the deals I accept are the ones where we both get ahead at little disservice to me, with things they actually can provide (energy). At least the demon possessing Connor in DA: O gave a reasonable deal (teach me blood magic and I let her keep connor? Deal.).
I know, no matter what you did or what your character was the mages still fucked shit up for themselves. Teaming up with the templars was fully justified, especially when every mage instantly turned into Shades in the final battle - I was like, yeah, fuck them.
Anders turned on me after I let him to so I killed the fucker. Since you could kill him I'm pretty sure he won't be back for DA3.
Oh THAT Sebastian. I never downloaded him (i look people up before i download him). I am largely with Anders (though I think what he did was a tad over-dramatic, i would rather have assassinated all of the templars slowly), and sebastian hates him I think (and me, if I'm not mistaken, and i love being a mage).
Void Wrote:I always specialized Arcane Warrior, the lack of that pissed me off. Force Mage sucked too.
I am glad I am not the only one who thinks so. Healing tree cannot do any damage at all, and that was a major 'fail' design imo.
Void Wrote:Yeah, some more foreshaddowing and a some more information about the lyrium idol would have been nice. Considering it was so important to the plot it received fuck all explanation.
I think that the most information I got on what was going to happen there was in a cutscene with Verric and Cassandra. And that really could have been anything.

I really hope to see him again, I was really glad to see Isabella as a major character in Dragon Age II, and even if he's only a small presence in DA3: I'd still like to see him again.
Part of my problem with the game was I was playing it on a console... i'll give it a shot on the PC sometime later. I've even got an interest in it now that I've seen anders in dragon age 2
void Wrote:In Witch Hunt my Warrior warden went through the portal with Morrigan.
I never heard of witch hunt until you and tearjerker mentioned it :S And i am under the impression it's not worth the time so far 0.o

It really is stupid how mages turn into shades/abomination (AND SO FREQUENTLY, WTH?!). I can only see it as a last desperate measure for vengeance... and even then I'd rather die on my own terms. For a dark fantasy, it retains a very childish notion of black and white through most of the game.
Even fucking ORSINO turns into an abomination, WHEN YOU TEAM UP WITH HIM! >_< It's beyond stupid. I really wish there was a third option of "I'm not getting in between two armies, what the hell are you thinking? If you try to kill me: i'll kill you all. Or run. Or both.", because Meredith was psychotic from day one (Though I appreciate her making an exception for me with my use of magic).
You can kill Zevran, but if you don't: he ends up in Dragon age 2 I've no idea what happens to leilana (ending cutscene) if you don't take her with you out of Lothering, since I thought she was supposed to stay and fight to her death
I totally forgot about that, the very first time I played Dragon age I didn't get Leliana and didn't do ANY of the companion quests (which were way better in DA2).
I suspect the same thing happens as in Awakenings final battle if Anders dies in the Wardens Keep, that decision is written off and it just acts as if he is alive - They definitely didn't consider continuity anywhere near as much as ME.
Well... if Zevran is dead in the first save... he won't appear in Dragon age 2. I hope that there is a valid replacement for anders if you did kill him (and if there's no, oh well... he's supposed to be on the run anyway).
I'd have felt a lot better about his annihilating the chantry if he told me he was going to do it first. Infact, I would have helped him do it (though I'd have liked to keep the Grand Cleric alive, as she truly is a good woman that I wouldn't wish ill upon at the worst of times). I was slightly annoyed with his "I have removed the option of compromise" speech, as I fervently believe there remained the option of "don't take a side, and come in to annihilate them all once they've spent themselves on each other".
And Ander's death in the Warden's Keep is epic, according to what I've heard
I'm playing Dragon age origins again ^_^ Wonder what happens if I make myself queen of Fereldan Do I meet myself in dragon age 2? >_> I"m sure the game wouldn't hate me if I had a harem as well
Sure, and we already killed Flemeth once too, I hardly think ashes are any obstacle. I just think given the Templar/Mages split it would be great if Andraste was a powerful mage, and we Know flemeth is going to have a big role later on. Plus there was that great dragon right outside Andraste's ashes which looked identical to Flemeth's dragon form.
Rogue Hawke was boring, not enough offensive powers, perhaps 4 in total... fucking lame, I found myself buying tons of bombs to compensate for it.. Mage Hawke was cool though.
Leliana's song was the Leliana DLC, unless there is one i've missed?
Well after a short nap I see we have a two page discussion for ourselves, missed a lot though ..
By Leliana's Song I meant the song with the same title she sings in the camp through dialogue choices your warden make. I'm sure you didn't missed that! or did you? did you? you didn't! did you?!
Anyway well one thing I always do in a Role-Playing game is try out and if it was good enjoy the thievery and archery it always fascinates me what you can find in locked chests or behind locked doors or in peoples pockets. So I did it in Origins and it was .. erm... OK, I guess. lockpicking and pickpocketing in Oblivion, Morrowind and Gothic and Gothic 2 was where I truly enjoyed being a word class rogue, I owned the thieves guild back in Oblivion days not that it was hard to do it was fun to do it.
in DAII I immediately went warrior because prior to release I got the demo and enjoyed the class.
Ok now that I read your last post I see that you missed it. Leliana is a great companion I mean she adds story values I like her a lot, though she's extremely religious which is OK in an RPG game cause deities exist there and actually help you a lot .
btw, my first post, and its first part was totally meant for the other thread .
In the deep forest by a yearnings side
Is a flower growing in the still of the night.
Moonlit night with her would blend - if you break her...
Your life must end!

Except that the Maker does absolutely diddly, and Leilana is a heretic according to the chantry (in the first game at least). She does have a lovable personality outside of religion though
I wonder just what it is about blood magic that fascinates me. If it wasn't forbidden: would it fascinate me so? Is the reason so many mages fail to control it adequately that they have zero instruction in it, and fumble their way through on their own? At the least... it is undeniably powerful (even if implemented somewhat poorly (Read: why can't I heal myself? Wtf?)).

Yeah. Worst.character.ever
I guess so. Perhaps he has a Zevran like role or perhaps he's just magically alive.

I side with the templars.

Sten wants a word about that title you have there.
If he is alive, my bet is that he will say this upon your meeting him: The chantry was just a setback!
Quote:I side with the templars.
I intend to next time... and to think that my apostate blood mage was such a good role model for them and everything (I mean... I never turned into an abomination or such stupidity when pressed). I just can't see reason to side with such weak-minded/hearted souls, even if I am a fellow magic user
Quote:No, Anora comes.
Damn >_< Can't i kill her in the first one, or is that impossible? :S

She hates my character because I made my character kiss Morrigan though. >_>
But she makes up as a very good archer.
