To my knowledge, no one here has endorsed the idea of not telling the police about instances of rape and murder. In fact, I would be really interested in seeing ANY examples of people endorsing that outside of organized crime or gangs....

Here's one example.




Rapper Cam'Ron going on record saying that if he lived next door to a serial killer, he'd just move, but he won't tell anybody else. And unless you learn about the... relationship between the police and black men (I can't really find many examples of any other demographic that tend to be anywhere near as devoted to this principle), it makes a depressing amount of sense.

Remember that George Floyd died because somebody snitched on him for passing off a fake $20 bill as real. Technically, it was because he was resisting arrest, but that technique used on him that day was well outside regulation for resisting arrest. And the cops would have gotten away with everything if not for the fact that onlookers filmed it in unmistakable clarity. Frankly, if there's a distinct possibility that a police call is likely to cause the cops to escalate to the point of murder (one they will likely get away with if they can spin it in a way that makes them blameless, which happens most of the time), it's no wonder that people are likely to make "stop snitching" a big principle.

Nor did I make it an absolutist stand.

If that were in question a simple " no exceptions?" would have headed off the train wreck that followed I strongly suspect some intended - as they always do...

Except you worded it as such and get over yourself and pity party victimhood when you receive criticism for a bad take...

Government or corporate workers who snitch on their employers (i.e. whistleblowers) are heroes who risk their freedom. The point is to snitch up, on the powerful, not down on the weak.

Daniel Hale, Julian Assange, etc., did the right thing.
