It's hotter than hell here.

RE: It's hotter than hell here.
We are sitting at triple digits here and looking at the forecast, that's not going to end any time soon. Usually we get a bit of a break for a day or two but that doesn't seem to be the case this month.

The pool was nice though. I think my plan of going out fairly early will help keep me from getting quick fried to a crackly crunch. One of the pluses about working part time from home...I can head to the pool at 10 or so in the morning. Wednesday will be a skip day as I have to do payroll, but that's okay.

Up here in Ottawa, we're sitting at a warm 21c/71f. For context, it's 30c/86f in Miami Florida today.

Here in SC it's supposed to get to 103 degrees F today, with the heat index reaching 114 because of the humidity. I've been assured several times that there will be a special place in hell for me, but I'm getting treated the same as everyone else!

The biggest difference I noticed between here in TX and SC is that a breeze was a rare thing in SC.  Here, what they call a breeze is called wind anywhere else.

If they tell you it's going to be windy here, it's going to blow the shingles off your house.

Welcome to my world.

Iowa usually isn't that hot and when it is, only lasts a short time.

I have learned to live with the heat in the southern US mostly because of how much I hated the winters in the midwest.

We're down to 100°F today, and 98° tomorrow. Then the cooling leaves off and we're apparently back up to 103-105°. No desperately-needed rain in the ten-day forecast.

It feels like August is a couple of months early.

Here too.  I am North of you but it's hot, hot, hot....with no break in sight and no rain either.  Next week is going to be miserable.

Two months ago, we planned a float trip down the lower 24 miles of the Buffalo plus 5 miles of the White River.  Three days with two nights under a waning gibbous.  That trip is easier to plan in advance because it's not as dependent on recent rain.  We did not foresee 99 degrees on June 17th.  At least we'll be on the water.

Last time I road tripped on the bike in AR. ( with ol' lady) we went down the Buffalo river on canoes....

Camped right on the edge of a tributary ( iirc) - on a bed of loose water polished rocks......

Much fun...
