Right now, I am using NVDA [NonVisual Desktop Access] (a screen-reader) so I can use my computer without my glasses without having to squint a bunch with a magnification software [Windows Magnifier; open by pressing Win key and the plus (+) key]...

I sometimes turn off my monitor and just use the screen-reader... Why go through the eye-strain for an increasingly disrespectful and hostile online environment...???

Though this place seems all right, but still. My point still stands.

ETA: Well... Don't get me wrong: there are a few decent things in this world that I do like seeing; I think there's a lot of crap that I would be better off not seeing...

Yes, having eyesight is great. But I just think it's unfair that there are people who have perfect 20/20 vision who are complete jerks, while there are very nice people who are completely blind [Tommy Edison]...

It makes me want to take off my glasses and use a screen-reader in protest. Why waste the eye strain looking at some pretty-looking website created by jerks (e.g. Reddit)?

I just turn off the monitor and turn on NVDA just so I can't even see the cool, flashy things the jerks admire. A form of rebellion in a weird way.

And besides, a lot of the websites that look pretty on the surface are a lot of times underneath poorly designed—they are more focused on making the website look pretty than actually being properly coded [unlabeled buttons, cluttered web design, etc.]...

Yes, that is true... Life can have its challenges [big or small, fair or unfair].

Oh, by the way, in the cases of the unlabeled buttons and the screen-reader not knowing what it is, you can just take a screenshot [Win key + print scrn key] of the webpage, paste it into Google Gemini [ctrl + v], and navigate to the "Listen" button and it'll provide an audio narrated description of that webpage from the screenshot you provided Gemini with.

It's a cool life hack for the visually impaired, as the screen-reader can get a bit messed up on the more complex websites [or a poorly designed website].

You can also turn on your computer monitor and point your phone camera at the screen with a screen share with Gemini Live and it'll describe to you in real-time what's on your screen.

Yes, it's a bit strange. But as long as it gets the job done, then that's all that matters...
