There was an anti-abortion commercial that was saying that a new proposed amendment to the state constitution would allow abortion up until birth. The reality is that it's an equal rights amendment, and some people have suggested amending it to include reproductive rights, but nothing has been proposed yet. So, as usual, pro-lifers lie to get people riled up.

Arizona lawmakers on Wednesday voted to repeal a Civil War-era law that banned nearly all abortions, after a pair of Republican senators joined with all Democrats.

The Republican-controlled Senate had enough votes to pass legislation repealing the 1864 law by a razor-thin margin, 16-14. All 14 Democrats were joined by two Republicans: state Sens. Shawnna Bolick and T.J. Shope.

The bill next heads to Gov. Katie Hobbs (D), who has promised to sign it.

“This is a clear statement that the Legislature does not want the territorial ban to be enforceable,” said state Sen. Priya Sundareshan (D), who voted yes to repeal.

A pair of Texas professors figured out that their female students have sex and, boy, they do not like it. So now the philosophy professor and finance professor are suing for the right to punish their students who, outside of class, have abortions.

"Pregnancy is not a disease, and elective abortions are not 'health care,'" University of Texas at Austin professor Daniel Bonevac sneers in a federal court filing with professor John Hatfield. Instead, Bonevac writes, because pregnancy is the result of "voluntary and consensual sexual intercourse," students should not be allowed time off to get abortions. If the students disobey and miss class for abortion care, the filing continues, the professors should be allowed to flunk students. Additionally, Bonevac asserts that he has a right to refuse to employ a teaching assistant who has had an abortion, calling such women "criminals."

He's got his opinion, it's just as valid as any other opinion. I don't agree with it at all, but he should be allowed to think that way. 

My take on the abortion thing.....abortion should always be allowed, no exceptions. If it hasn't been born, it's eligible for abortion.
