Persuade me, do you know the shape of this realm?
Can you stretch the line across it an measure it for me?
Regardless of your position, any non-God fearing person should embrace the challenge of proving their knowledge of something as foundational as the ground we stand upon.
Nothing to be persuaded, the shape of the earth has been proven over and over and over and over and over. There is no debate to be had, and nothing to be proven. I do not know why you insist on wasting your time and ours implying there is a "debate" to be had on this subject.
You might as well start a thread titled "Persuade me, do you know that Thor does not cause lightening."
Your "premise" is nonsensical and not worthy of any serious debate or consideration.

Why?! Because Mount Everest is way below the horizon on the other side of the world. But if the Earth was flat then you could see Mount Everest (along with other highest mountains) from any point on Earth topping everything else. At nights you could see Mount Everest glowing if it was in a different time zone because it would be dark where you are but Sun would shine over Mount Everest, so you could see it in the sky.
And even if there was fog you could see Mount Everest with an infrared camera and radar.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

First of all, the peak of a mountain is usually obscured by clouds, also objects which are closer to you may get in the way (trees, hills, buildings). That's how the visor on a hat works to keep the sun off of your brow.
Also, once again, you're making an assertion that can be proven. Like I said, Why don't we point a laser at the peak of Everest? Why don't we use various optics to see the peak of Everest from however far away? You're making perfectly good suggestions, my position is that we should try these things instead of accepting what we've been told to believe.

So, now it's not elementary school science you need explained, but middle school geometry?
You could, presuming the earth were flat, determine how tall an obstruction would have to be to block your view of everest by plugging it's height and your distance from it's peak into the pythagorean theorem. Trouble is, you would also then know how high to place your observation device to get over it for an unobstructed view. It works exactly the way the visor on your hat works.
In fact, I think you should work out those numbers and do it, and go take a look for yourself right now...before you go to the next bit. You know...you shoul like, try it....and not take this stuff on anyones word...

The problem is that these derps think researching YouTube videos is confirmation. If enough derps say the same thing, the sense of mutual reinforcement seems to them a great substitute for actual research.
So far it's pretty harmless. But we're always about one charismatic leader or one natural disaster away from burning old ladies at the stake or burning books in central square.

I think you mean seeing things with your own eyes and refusing to doubt your own experiences when in-adequate evidence is presented to the contrary.
Again I ask, is it possible to observe a full moon at midnight?

you can observe the full moon at precisely mid night or any other moment of the night or all night long. if fact, daycare level astronomy and geometry just most barely forever beyond your furthest comprehension will shout to your uncomprehending ears that the full moon is the only moon phase that is possible to observe anytime of the night between sun down and sun rise. any other moon phase will be unobservable some part of the night unless you can look down and see through what your dim wit and profound ignorance imagine to be a flat earth.
now just get lost. a dimwit like you with the knowledge and comprehension of a fossilized tree stump does not become worth talking to no matter how emphatic you try to speak or how rhetorical you imagine your question to be.

When the Moon is full, it rises at sunset and sets at sunrise and is on the meridian (due south) at midnight local time.
