Would you kiss Pope's ring?

RE: Would you kiss Pope's ring?
Nope. There's a non-zero probability that I'd be tempted to Gollum him. ;-)

Would you not want to be rude so you would follow the protocol which means bow to him and kiss his ring? Or would you just shake his hand and smile at him? Or would you just ignore him and go out of the room? Or would you tell him to go fuck himself?

I'd suspect that anyone expected to have an audience with the pope would be questioned and/or briefed ahead of time on protocol, pretty much like visits with the QoE, if one were to be knighted, or something. Just what the "relevant" world needs, is for the QoE to order someone to kneel (like Ronald Reagan), and have them not do it. I'll never be asked, so it's a moot point, either way. Tim Minchin said it best- "Fuck the Pope, fuck the motherfucking motherfucker".

I would forever be exiled from my home if I got an audience with the pope and didn't act like it was some kind of blessing.

I wouldn't bow, and would ask him where he got his dress?

My mother was a deeply religious Catholic. She had three aunts and a cousin who became nuns. My dad was an atheist, but it was rare that he would admit to it. He'd make statements and then waffle when confronted. Can't say I blame him, as this happened in the '60s and '70s. Interestingly enough, my eldest sister seems to have been able to keep awake at night to hear their arguments about religion. I sleep like a rock, so I guess I missed out.

As an ex-Catholic, I would kneel and kiss the Roman Pontiff's ring. His office is, after all, among the last vestiges of Western feudalism; as with the Amish, it has some historical value, although, both the Church and the Amish continue their cultural and theological evolution.

But would you go before Pope as a trans person or would you not want to disturb him and thus go dressed according to your birth gender?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
