When atheists become a supermajority someday (hopefully, soon), we will not have such attitudes towards those among us who persist in "superstitions".

Texas school board bans teachers from saying that trans people exist
LGBTQ Nation

Quote:A local school board in Texas has adopted a sweeping new set of guidelines that ban discussion about the existence of transgender people – which they call “gender fluidity” – and critical race theory, prohibits the use of pronouns that aren’t aligned with the sex on a student’s birth certificate, and restricts use of restrooms and locker rooms, among other new prohibitions.

The new guidelines, approved by the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District near Dallas, are the result of a concerted campaign organized by conservative Christian group Patriot Mobile Action, which has spent millions of dollars electing conservative majorities to Texas school boards.

GOP lieutenant governor wants to ban social studies & science in elementary schools
LGBTQ Nation

Quote:North Carolina’s extremely anti-LGBTQ Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson ® is now calling for eliminating science and social studies education in elementary schools.

In his soon-to-be-released memoirs – entitled We Are the Majority: The Life and Passions of a Patriot – he railed against kids learning about history in first through fifth grade.

“In those grades, we don’t need to be teaching social studies,” Robinson wrote. “We don’t need to be teaching science. We surely don’t need to be talking about equity and social justice.”

But, let me guess, teachers can teach the children about Jesus, right??

Republican campaign rocked by gay extortion attempt
LGBTQ Nation

Quote:A self-described “strong conservative and Christian” Republican candidate for Wisconsin’s state assembly is speaking out after he says he was blackmailed by someone who had video of him performing oral sex on another man.

..............

He still didn’t pay the blackmailer and he told his family himself.

“I was the victim of a crime, but I’ve put the matter behind me and I’ve focused on my faith,” Schmidt said to WisPolitics, a local news site. “I’m a strong conservative and Christian, but there was a brief moment I struggled with my sexuality.”

Former GOP candidate wants to arm children so that they’ll stop school shootings
LGBTQ Nation

Quote:Failed Republican candidate and rightwing pundit Deanna Lorraine – who has a history of extreme anti-LGBTQ statements – argued that elementary schoolchildren should be armed so that they can fight school shooters.

“Arm our children!” she told her guest Matt Couch on her Shots Fired! podcast. “Have them learn how to protect themselves. That’s what’s gonna stop shooters. That’s what’s gonna stop threats. Not just going to school wearing a bulletproof vest, OK?”

She's obviously never met any children.  Most can't remember their homework, their lunch, their house keys, or to get that paper signed by mom or dad.  Just what they need are weapons.

We just got back from the park, where my daughter, age 11, having completed her second day of middle school, was at the park with her (boy) friend; they ended their play date by poking each other with pointed sticks. No injuries, but, I and his mom quickly put a stop to their reckless behavior.
