Bingo, spot on.
And for you, what would be your reaction if the boss then told you that you were being dramatic, that it wasn't racism, and that if you reported it to him again you would be cited for abusing the rules and safeguards detailed within the code of conduct you signed when you joined the organization?
Depending on the severity of the remarks in question, either anything from just taking the advice to quitting entirely.
Then again, I'm not the "freak out at every possible micro-aggression" kind of leftist, so, I'm inclined to think that if something is "I'm telling HR" levels of bad and the boss' response is "No, it's not racist, and if you report it again, we're citing you," I'd think the best choice of action would be:
- Look for another job
- Quit as soon as I found something else
- Let the world know exactly how shit the boss and the company are.

You spell out "the N-Word" on public forums because you hang out around the Klan a lot?

Fair and honest response, thank you - and you are a smarter person than me then .

Agreed, but I don't see how the conclusion is that the state and your boss must now be the police of your speech.
Do you trust the man in the wrong to take it upon himself to punish himself? I certainly don't.

Why should he punished?

My wife is the entire HR department at her business (also, CEO,CFO, managing director and every other corporate officer you can think of).
She once summarily sacked an employee for using an ethnic slur - which I won’t repeat here - about a Maori customer. Seems a good practice to follow.

I'm glad not all of us are such cynical assholes about people who disagree with us, because yeah - I do believe there is hope for you even despite how brainwashed you are.
That goes for everyone, other than the two assholes who are obsessed with trying to racially harass me with impunity. Which is weird af to harass a Hispanic-American for being white...
Your boss is not your father; it is not his job to do what every adult should be able to do at the most basic level; solve interpersonal problems *by themselves.*
You are an adult; your coworker is an adult - behave like it.
You don't like what they said? Cool, ignore it.
They won't let you ignore it? Cool, they are fired.
It's truly that easy.

Weird flex, but okay.
It would seem wise to follow her example then, but something tells me they won't be gone come tomorrow...
