Satanic verses

RE: Satanic verses
Quote:Jabir ibn Hayyan is thought to have been a pseudonym used by an anonymous school of Shi'ite alchemists writing in the late 9th and early 10th centuries.
Priceless.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

It did produce people like him in the past, or did you forget that modern Chemistry and the Algorithm witnessed huge evolutions thanks to Muslim scientists?

I didn't forget, it's you who is forgetting that al-Khwarizmi lived in the very early days of Islam, before it went dark. And I do say that you forgot because that is in that video by Neal DeGrasse Tyson that people have been linking you to educate yourself with.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Odd.  And, so, who wrote the Quran?  I want the POV of a real, live Muslim as opposed to an Internet search.

The Quran was written by Prophet Mohammed's chosen writers prior to his death, they took the words directly from his mouth and wrote it under his supervision, the writers were called "The writers of revelation/كتاب الوحي":

Sadly there is no English article in wikipedia. But this site gives sufficient info about who wrote the Quran:

I think that's called hearsay.

Ah, but they had a process in place for ensuring the authenticity of that hearsay. Perhaps Winter would like to tell us about it. Or maybe he'd like to comment on whether magic book influenced the jabirian wizards hilarious explanations for natural phenomena?

RE: Satanic verses
I appreciate these recent threads and posts on Islam; I have become even more convinced that it is purely a man-made phenomenon.

I'd appreciate them more if Winter wasn't such a lazy bullshitter. There is, for example, a link..in english...and on wikipedia....on who wrote magic book and how. The trouble is that it did not happen - even according to islamic sources- the way that Winter wants to argue. That it did happen, according to islamic sources....a way that inconveniences Winters sub-cult. The cherry on the cake is link dropping shit he's never read about some fucking hellenizing alchemists.

Winter, do you believe a single word of what you say to us, and additionally...do you feel compelled to be honest in the things you say or believe that the accuracy of the things you say is important? Is any of it even for us..or is it more that you are trying to negotiate your own doubts about your own religion?

I believe in every single word.
I'm not repeating it for 10 years if I didn't believe in it.

Actually, I have no doubts now, all doubting ended with knowing that:

1-Mohammed's name was in the OT:

https://atheistforums.org/thread-64344.html

2-The Big Bang Theory was mentioned in the Quran:

https://atheistforums.org/thread-64215.html

These two evidences concluded the 10 years I spent searching. Yes I kept a leap of faith; but now it's not just blind faith: this illiterate ancient Arab (Prophet Mohammed PBUH) was saying the total truth, he was contacted by a celestial being, and the being gave him the story of what we know today through cosmology and science as "The Big Bang Theory".

So I am fully honest.

People stick themselves into routines for lifetimes without ever having believed a word of it.

Quote:Actually, I have no doubts now, all doubting ended with knowing that:
Now?  So...to at least some extent, you have been bullshitting us for ten years for your own benefit as a consequence of trying to reinforce belief that you had at some point in past wavered with?

Quote:So I am fully honest.
Did you actually read that link you dropped earlier?  Did you somehow miss that wikipedia does have exactly what you claimed it did not? How would someone be able to accept that your earlier insistence that..should some x get some thing wrong, you would abandon it......was genuine....in the light of your actually doubling down on things shown to have been wrong?

Temet nosce, my friend.

You keep using that word, ancient - I mean....you don't have to concede any meaningful argument to your beliefs or anything...I'm just telling you that the english word for that illiterate arab is "medieval". You believe that a medieval arab warlord got things right, despite being shown in every instance that you've ever presented over ten years that you are both mistaken in your understanding..and...if right in that understanding..magic book still managed to get it wrong-in-fact. You think that this has strengthened your faith, rather than reducing it to a pathetic house of petty cards which will fall the next time you have doubts...which you have had a history of experiencing?
