From the early 1970's to the late 1990's Charles Bronson was my favorite actor. If I saw one of his films in the theater listings, I had to go see it. I saw him in House of Wax, Apache, Vera Cruz, Drum Beat, Machine-Gun Kelly, Showdown at Boot Hill, The Magnificent Seven, Master of the World, The Great Escape, Four for Texas, Battle of the Bulge, The Dirty Dozen, Villa Rides, Once Upon a Time in the West, You Can't Win 'Em All, Cold Sweat, Red Sun, The Valachi Papers, Chato's Land, The Mechanic, The Stone Killer, Mr. Majestyk, Death Wish, Hard Times, Breakheart Pass, St. Ives, The White Buffalo, Telefon, Death Hunt, Death Wish II, 10 to Midnight, The Evil that Men Do, Death Wish III, Murphy's Law, Death Wish IV, Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects, The Sea Wolf and Death Wish V.

I think the thing that people enjoyed in those movies has been adopted in so many more recent ones, and surpassed in violence, that they will seem outdated and quaint to younger people. 

Most action movies today teach us that problems are best solved through violence, and the person who makes the most effective use of violence is the good guy. 

Stylized killing presented as an aesthetic pleasure is everywhere in movies and TV. I don't know to what extent Bronson's movies influenced this. I think that, given the political thinking in the US, it would be the same if he had never made them.
