^Exactly this. Whether an issue affects or benefit me personally and immediately has precious little bearing on how I vote. I’ll never have an abortion, I don’t use drugs, I have no children, I’m straight, and I’m not a member of a racial minority. This doesn’t prevent me from supporting abortion access, legalized drugs, protections for children, and civil rights via my vote.

If the Dems win things continue as they are.

If the Republicans win it's a chance for them to show they have no ability to fix any of the problems they complained about.

Either way, the Republicans lose.
