No one used the quoting rule against you - it was simply pointed out that we have a rule against what you did. You childishly responded out of spite by reporting other members who - contrary to what you think - did NOT break the rule, which was put in place to keep members’ quotes from being taken out of context.

It seems that your issue isn’t so much with being mildly advised about the rules as it is behaving like a grown up and following them.

I hope it’s allowed, because I do something similar: I will sometimes bold a bit from a wall of text and make clear that that is the only bit I’m replying to.

I understand it better now.  Snipping is fine but something like my example below wouldn't be allowed because it's changing the quotes
