I've been bored doing solo night shifts recently so I got back into chess.
I get scored at around 1500 on this site, unless I make major blunders which I often do when I'm tired.
There's so much AI to go against and it's easy to play against other people.
I started playing maybe a month or two ago. I got interested after the Magnus vs Hans scandal; plus some episodes I heard on the Lex Fridman podcast. I'm definitely taking part in this new Chess resurgence: Chess.com has been at capacity and crashing all month it seems like.
I'm at 800 on rapid so far.
I just got past 900 on rapid after several ups and downs.
I still find that most my wins are from blunders, but they're blunders that I encourage by things like constantly attacking their queen.
I'm a really sore loser though and get emotional on losing streaks, it makes me nervous to play if the last day I played and I was on a winning streak. My rating going up means harder opponents.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
