Are there any other metal heads out there, I can't be the only one here. I've been listening to music my entire life, and as a teenager, I started listening to RUSH, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Nugent, Floyd, etc. Then, in 1980 I went to my first concert, it was RUSH on their Permanent Waves tour, and I've been hooked ever since.
I've been to countless club shows and arena tours in the past 40+ years, and I'm still going to shows whenever I can. I've seen RUSH several times(RIP Neil Peart), along with Iron Maiden and DIO(RIP Ronnie) more than most other metal bands. But as I've gotten older, instead of "mellowing out" like most people do, my tastes in music have gotten darker and more evil and Satanic. I've been listening to almost nothing but black/death metal bands for almost 20 years now.
Now, bands like 'Maiden, Priest, Metallica, and even Slayer aren't heavy enough any more. I have a music library on Spotify on my phone that is 95% black or death metal records, and I listen to it for hours every afternoon. Last year, 2022, I listened to my music for a total of over 55,000 minutes according to Spotify. In '21, it was over 52,000 minutes.
The next show I'm planning on seeing is the Decible Magazine tour headlined by Dark Funeral, one of my favorite black metal bands. It's going to be cool, they always put on a good live performance.
Who else out there is a fan of this type of music? Anybody?
