I'm a guitarist. If that shit's loud, I'm pretty goddamned happy.
Have you ever listened to NEVERMORE? Another great band out of Seattle.

I'll listen to just about anything, with the exception of country, rap, and top 40 bullshit.
From Al Di Meola to ZZ Top. From Sinatra to Slayer.

I can dig the rifs in death metal, just not too keen on the vocals.

The best metal bands currently are coming out of Europe. I recently got turned on to Burning Witches (they do an awesome cover of Dio's Holy Diver), among many others.

I grew up on metal, and while my tastes have broadened as I've aged, and I've come to appreciate the quality of some music I dismissed in my youth, metal is still my first, truest musical love.

I'm truly digging the metal covers of 80s and 90s pop tunes, whether their legit or taking the piss.

I've also been diving deep into punk, late 60s right through today. There's a shit-ton of good music in the anti-establishment scene.

Not before tonight upon reading this post. Not a big fan of the screamo vocals or the clickety kick-drums, strikes me as a little cartoonish.

Which record did you listen too? I like all of them, but your first one should be their first record, "The politics of ecstasy".

33 year old Metalhead here. Love me some Cannibal Corpse, Lamb Of God, Pantera, Deviod Of Thought, Skeptic, Morgal, Slayer, Amon Amarth. I'm really into Brutal Death Metal, Death Thrash, Thrash, Viking/Midevil Metal, Power/Fantasy Metal, Beer Metal, Norwegian/Satanic Black Metal.

Damn, we're almost twins. I grew up in the 90s/00s listing to Van Halen, Journey (Yeah I know), Ozzy, The Offspring, P.O.D., Puddle Of Mudd and a plethora of different genres thanks to the 90s/00s incarnations of Power Rangers (they thought me to be a mini headbanger). In my late teens I wanted to impress people so I pretended to like rap as well as a certain blonde country pop she urchin who must not be named and hate rock. Then in my early 20s I was introduced to metalcore, which lead me to punk and other subgeneres which lead me to Cannibal Corpse and a bunch of local death/black/trash metal concerts and here I am now.

You should check out a podcast called Metal Enema, it's how I get to hear new stuff from the underground Death and Black metal scene.
