So my cat, Pickles got neutered on Friday. He's wearing The Cone of Shame for ten days. Poor little guy is trying to lick his stitches but he can't because The Cone is in the way.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but it's funny to see him going to all that effort just to lick The Cone.

No no no. They are smart lil fuckers. Just look at the four from Madagascar. Have you seen their hideout? Their leader even sports a crew cut and is always on a mission.

Am I the only one who thinks a pet cage/carrier in the home is cruel for the animal? Shouldn't the pet be allowed the freedom to roam about the home?

Sometimes, it is for the pet's own good.  Other times, pets (particularly dogs) can be destructive if not confined.

Or, suppose you're one of those insane people who keeps birds or snakes as pets.  You definitely want these confined.

I once tried to give a goldfish 'freedom to roam about the home'.  I'm no longer allowed to own goldfish.

Cage training leads to reduced anxiety for when caging is necessary. And once they're used to it, what's the harm?
