Apparently there was a new high temperature record set in Japan today. They're reporting a high of 106° F. I'm surprised that's a record as the further south towards Okinawa you go, the more tropical it becomes. I'm sure that our southern states have experienced higher record temperatures, yet I don't believe they extend as far south as Japan does.

It gives me comfort to know that the day I die, most of the rebels and "freedom fighters" who overthrew my "repressive regime" will suffer the death penalty when the Doomsday Device ™ goes off.

(I go to see mum at the home on a Saturday morning at 10am and they're all in the big lounge room in front of the huge TV and sleeping!)

Your mum's home must be special (I'm guessing chemical restraints).  The people at the home where I work tend to only sleep at night, during the shift I work.  Only the few who don't sleep at night sleep during the day.
