Neither do many women in shithole countries with their clits removed. Honestly, it's not saying anything great about us or our society to mention that.

-as an addendum, with respect to the religious aspect - that's probably the only thing keeping it legal. No one wants to recommend it but banning it would be to step in shit. It would be PERSECUTIONS if prosperity gospel protestants couldn't mutilate their children as per the jewish gods orders to his chosen people in notheristan. It's basically their version of a fake id - which is their right.

It’s a barbaric ritual.

Sure they cut my arm off when I was an infant and I've never had any aversion for the decision having been made for me by my parents.

It doesn't.  It glides.  There's no controversy over whether or not intact foreskin better facilitates sex.  It does. That's one of the lost functions in electively and cosmetically docking a dick.

It seems to me the kind of thing that to be consistent with general ethical and legal principles on consent should be illegal to do to infants.

We only give it a legal pass because of religion,tbh.
