Britain's upcoming royal wedding

Every since my wife dragged me to see The King's Fucking Speech I have had a deep antipathy towards the House of Hanover....which is what they were prior to WWI.

To be precise, Min, they changed their name from " Hanover-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha " to " Windsor " at the height of WW1 in 1917 to deflect anti-German feeling. Prince Philip ( the queen's husband ) held on to his real family name " Schleswig-Holstein Sonderberg-Glucksberg " right up until 1947 when it suited to change his name to " Mountbatten " ( which is actually an Anglicisation of Battenberg! ).

It is also revealing that tthe present queen is the FIRST and therefore only British sovereign to have British blood in her veins and that is due to her Scottish mother!

I too would like to see us rid of them, either dead or alive.

We did. Big Grin
During the English civil war back in the 15th century. We executed the king and some others. A few royals were forced to leave Briton or face the same fate. For a while, we were royal-less. However, we brought them back, seeing as the country became worse without them. Crap leaders, just like today.
The war was about people power over the monarchy, after brining them back, there was now a monarchy and a parliament. Been this way ever since.
Perhaps we could give it another try and remove the monarchy again.Big Grin

Actually I was meaning in the last 200 years or so.

I've wondered too Atman. We had a chance after the French Revolution but the Establishment clamped down and suppressed the merest hint of similar revolutionary actions and the moment passed, sadly.
Never know though, we might get another chance sometime in the future.

Less than a week to go now and the Establishment with the help of the mass media is into overdrive
trying to ensure a spiffing right-royal extravaganza! The usual tacky merchandise is on sale and is most popular, it seems, with foreign tourists bewitched by the trappings of monarchy.
Television commentators are marvelling at how quickly and effortlessly the Middleton gal has settled in to the role of royal bimbo. And such a charming couple who are set to regenerate the British monarchy in the 21st century ( shall I stop now..are you feeling queazy?? )
Meanwhile, back in the real world, the mass of the population couldn't give a tuppeny fuck!

This wedding is a disgrace and its disgusting how much coverage it gets. I don't care if the wedding planners have planned to cut the cost to the taxpayers, ANY amount taxpayers has to pay is revolting, £128m my ass.

Well people, it's eve of!
Is Britain a police state? Well the answer would appear to be " yes " when royal weddings happen. The Police have warned the organisation called Republic ( a pressure group that campaigns , very quietly it must be said, for an elected head of state ) that " any demonstration will be dealt with ROBUSTLY ( code for getting your head caved in by boots/truncheons or whatever ).

Next, the guest list. If ever there was any doubt about the " impartiality " of the royals, out of the last 4 Prime Ministers of the country, the 2 Conservative ones, Thatcher and Major, were invited ( for our non-Brit members, the Conservatives are regarded as the most right-wing party of the 3 major parties ) whereas the 2 Labour ones, Blair and Brown ( for our non-Brit members, Labour is supposedly the left-wing party, although it's not actually ) were not.

So, my wish is that some suicide bomber manages to blow him/herself to smithereens, taking the whole royal shebang along with them.
An alternative scenario that would have met with my approval would have been Thatcher attending ( she's too ill apparently to be there ), going into her death throes just as the pair were at the alter and knocking the whole event into utter confusion....whether to celebrate the marriage or ( from the establishment perspective ) mourn the death of the old witch.

I'm probably left just trusting the god old British weather to spoil the show!

According to the media, Wills and Kate, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were intent on doing their own cooking, shoping and getting ready for " work " prior to their nuptuals. Wrong! Just a few weeks into holy matrimony, the golden duo are advertising for " household servants " to look after their daily needs. What are they you ask? Well, Wills needs a valet to help dress him and his duchess needs someone to dress her, cause you see pumpkins, she's a style icon nowadays, whose " outfits are studied and commented on around the world ".
They are advertising in Buckingham Palace and an insider remarks how the " whole place is buzzing with excitement. Lots of people will want these prestigious jobs. This is a golden opportunity for someone to be in at the beginning of William and Kate's working and domestic lives ". ( the actual reality is that the palace staff are paid a pittance )
Wills must struggle at the moment because " there is so much to remember if you don't have a valet to look after you. They will also need a butler for when they entertain. "
The Duke has a place in Anglesey, Wales, but the newleywed royal superstars are also moving into a wing of Kensington Palace for when they are needed in London, hence the need for staff. Average property prices in this area are £20 million.

It's tough at the top, don't you think?

Also, a commoner who is well in with HRH rejoices under the grand title of " PA Advisor and Curator to HM The Queen ( Jewellery, Insignias and Wardrobe ). She apparently designs and fits maam's gear. For that she gets the job title and has been awarded the Royal Victorian Order and Queeny once told her " we could be sisters ".
Pass me the sickbag and sharpen up the blade citizens!
