Art in the Home

[Thumpalumpacus]

I've got a woodcut marquetry of Oberhofen Castle in Switzerland, and a hopi-style depiction of two shamans dancing around a bear.

Mine is slightly different.

Everything else on the walls is family pics.

Crafts, not art. My wife makes quilts, so we have them hanging on the walls in various places around the house. I have a coffee table book of Escher prints. Brewer reminded me. I may make some frames and hang them. We'll see.

There’s no reason that crafts can’t qualify as art.

True. Here's a pic of a tool chest I built out of black walnut to hold some of my nice carving tools. Sadly, I soon outgrew it. The hardware is from a company named Gerstner and Sons, which builds chests for machinists, mostly.

I have swords from 22 countries on display. (Including one from Gryffindor.) Various other instruments of war/death/mayhem. I also have several handmade (by me) leather hats, mostly top hats.

I have three katanas, including a replica from Highlander.

I have the sword of Gryffindor and Lucius Malfoy's wand/staff as well as the Elder Wand and Voldemort's left testicle.

I have a pair of stuffed owls, which have become part of the dialogue of our marriage.

Me: ‘Hon, I’m thinking of buying you a [insert name of ridiculous item].’

Her: ‘Pfft. I need that like I need a pair of stuffed owls.’
