How long has Humanity been on Planet Earth?
March 12, 2024 at 10:50 am
A generic question. How long does the population of humanity take to increase from 2 (or more than 2) to the current 8 billion (give or take)?
Population Doubling Time is a well known concept. It takes around 200 to 300 years at most for a population to double. But if that is true, since 2^10=1024=1000 (approx.), then it takes only 2000 to 3000 years for a population to increase by a factor of 1000. Next, since the population is only in the billions and not the trillions, there have been only 3 such increases [(10^3)^3] in all of human history. But that leads to a far younger date for the origin of the first human couple (or couples) than most evolution-supporting Atheists would agree with. Stated differently, if humanity began around 100,000 B.C. but yet doubled around 200 to 300 years, and increased by 1000 every 3000 years or so, the population would be >10^30, i.e. Millions of Trillions of Trillions, not just 8 BN. How do we resolve this dilemma/paradox, from within the evolutionary paradigm?
Thoughts and comments welcome.

Although this feep is rightly banned, here’s the answer:
Population doubling is not a smooth function.
Thank you.

The human population doesn't double every 200 to 300 years. For example, the human population in the year one is estimated to be around 170 million people, and in the year 1000 CE around 255 million people. But by your claims, the human population should have been 5 billion 440 million people in the year 1000.
Here is how it grew from the year 1 till today
Not to mention that the human population doubled since the 1980s compared to today. In 1982, the population was 4,6 billion, and now it's over 8 billion.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The more people there are, the less time it takes for the population to increase.

Are you pretending to be too stupid to know that long term population growth is not an ideal exponential function but a result of influences of natural causes, causes which are by no means constant and predictable?
See, thats what you are: Someone who pretends to be a complete moron, just to be able to keep your stupid religious belief up.

Knowing I'm speaking to a probable sockpuppet here (no matter, they're banned), but has the OP not realised that it's only in the last few hundred years humanity as a species has developed enough to escape the clutches of its predators (large carnivores, diseases) and to be able to explode in population.

It is resolved by the simple expedient of killing off the product of population doubling who are not fit enough to survive and reproduces in the face of the consequences of the population doubling. You know, survival of the fittest.
Strange enough you should need to ask since You must personally know exactly what it feels like to not be fit enough to survive.
