I used to be a Catholic, and now I don't really care what is or isn't. So, agnostic I guess?

Yeah well, Jesus is the "Lord of Lords", I'm one of the non-reluctant lords . . after the Order of Melchizedek. So many have a metaphysical identity crisis.
I am an atheist!
Lifetime atheist, in spite of being born into a catholic family of 6.

How is it that you got to be a lord of the Order of Melcheesydick? I mean, did the other lords vote you in, or was it a CrackerJack prize, or what? Boru

I was very good at evaluating supernatural claims (other than my theistic beliefs), using valid and sound logic, and critical thinking. When I reached my early 20's, it hit me. I never thought to evaluate my own theistic beliefs with the same level of skepticism and critical thinking I used for all those other supernatural claims. I had unknowingly compartmentalized them. As soon as I did in earnest, it didn't take too long for them to fail to meet their burden of proof, just like all the rest. My atheism, unlike my theistic beliefs, are not dogmatic, they are provisional. As long as the theists fail to meet their burden of proof to support their god claims, my atheism will continue. You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

I'm sensing a disturbance in the force. It's like a voice went silent.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

You are calling that person or alien a “god”. I don’t think that anyone can create reality. A god can’t create himself and can’t create the universe in which he exists. Stuff always existed. It can only change form. A lot of theists (christians, muslims) tell me that atheists believe that stuff came into existence. I think that they haven’t spoken to any atheists. They really need to get out of their little bubble. Talk to people. Get to know them. Can a god exist forever. Can he have an infinite existence into the past? I don’t think so. A universe can change form. It can crush itself and maybe turn everything into energy. Any machine, any complex object in that universe would get transformed into its brainless components. ^^^^^I am basing that stuff on the few things that modern science has discovered and throwing in some of my guesses. About all these ancient religions like judaism: I think they come from cavemen times. Any animal that reaches a certain level of intelligence will start to develop the big questions. No doubt, they will invent gods and the concept of an eternal soul. Each culture will develop their own rituals, their own gods and their own characteristics. |
