I hope they get it. I hope that ballroom is built. It will stand as a physical reminder for future generations.

There will always be historical records of course but there is something about a tangible, physical thing. I hope a portion of it is set aside as a museum to demonstrate to future Americans that democracy is fragile. It is not a guaranteed thing, even in the place where it was birthed. I think there needs to be a monument to Trump - but not the kind he would like. It should be the kind that perseveres the memory of the insanity of this time so that future generations will always be reminded that eternal vigilance must be kept lest the insanity come again.

Now, President Donald Trump’s administration is poised to penalize people like Burton simply for living in the same home as their families, according to four federal officials, internal emails and a federal regulatory listing. The administration is working on a rule change that would deduct the value of a disabled adult’s bedroom from their SSI allotment, even if the family members they live with are poor enough to qualify for food stamps. This would mean slashing the benefits of some of the most low-income SSI recipients by up to a third — about $330 a month in Burton’s case — or ending their support altogether.

Trump sons take stake in Kazakh miner that won $1.6bn US contract

A shell company backed by Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump has merged with a critical minerals group that last year secured up to $1.6bn in US government support to mine tungsten in Kazakhstan.

The deal expands the Trump family’s sprawling business empire, granting the US president’s sons a stake in a company that insiders hope will help sever America’s reliance on China for metals used in munitions and other defence products.

The brothers bought into construction group Skyline Builders in August, taking stakes through a special purpose vehicle run by a subsidiary of Dominari Securities, according to three people familiar with the deal. The size of their investment was not disclosed.

Separately, on September 22, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev told Donald Trump that he planned to award a major tungsten project to US investment group Cove Kaz Capital, according to a person familiar with the discussion. Cove Kaz, backed by the US government, was competing against Chinese and Russian companies.

Trump Family-Backed Drone Firm Signs Weapons Deal With US

The US Air Force agreed to buy an undisclosed number of interceptor drones from a company backed by President Donald Trump’s sons, according to the firm, deepening the military’s ties to defense contractors linked to the first family as the US war with Iran enters its third month.

The West Palm Beach-based company, Powerus, will sell the drones to the Pentagon following a demonstration at a facility in Arizona, according to Brett Velicovich, the company’s co-founder and president.

The deal represents the first sale of this kind of weapon — which can zip into the sky and blow up enemy drones — by Powerus to the US military. The company declined to detail the terms of the deal or the size of the contract, but the military frequently enters into such deals as it weighs whether to adopt a new weapons system.

The arrangement fits with a broader US push to counter cheap Iranian attack drones with similarly inexpensive interceptors instead of far pricier missiles.

But the company’s ties to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump could invite scrutiny of the deal.

Rather than pursuing an initial public offering, Powerus is planning to merge with Aureus Greenway Holdings Inc., a golf-course operator backed by the Trumps that already has a Nasdaq listing, according to an announcement earlier this year.

Democrats in Congress have asked the Pentagon for more information about other defense contractors and technology firms with ties to the president’s family. In addition to Powerus, Eric Trump backed a reverse-merger deal between Israeli drone maker Xtend and JFB Construction Holdings, a publicly listed construction company.

In response to criticism of their business partnerships in their father’s second term, his sons have repeatedly said they are private businessmen.
