Just a friendly reminder - it’s 30 days AND 30 posts. I’d hate to see you post links when you haven’t crossed that second bar only to have them removed. You seem a good sort, just trying to keep you from having a run-in with the Admins (they’re not to be trusted).

Colorado is beautiful. Never lived there, always the chance it's one of the pretty places that pretty much sucks - but I always enjoyed driving through. Definitely a rough time to think about starting a new career. Ever consider the trades? The reforestation sector is in a bind. You can't throw a rock without hitting a consulting ecologist but there aren't enough collectors, nursery workers, or planting crews to actually do the work. I find work like that is very much like playing games with childhood friends. The toys are bigger. The friends are weirder. Vibes about the same.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Thank you very much, I 100% would have made that mistake. It still feels backwards to me, like I'm meant to engage with the community here before I can introduce myself properly. But it probably does help reduce ads and spam.

I have, but I don't know where to start. There is a university here, I could potentially sign up for night classes or something while I work something else in the meantime. I fear spending money and 2 years (or whatever the course is) to get something I won't know how to use. Trust issues make it very difficult to try new things.
I enjoy technology, but I have always been more involved with software, specifically web development. I could see myself doing something with electrical engineering maybe. Plumbing might also be something to try, but I don't have a roadmap. The uncertainty of the future scares me, and it feels like I have to make an investment and a commitment that may or may not work out. The frustrating thing about web development is that AI is creating more problems than it is solving, but companies are leaning heavily on it. So maybe I'll have opportunities again after the bubble bursts and they need people to clean up the messes, but that could take years.

I would love to do something like that. Helping people, animals, and/or the environment, that is my goal. I wish I didn't need money to live, that tends to take the fun out of things. Reforestation sounds nice. I signed a lease here for a year, so I plan to spend that time working and building up savings to move with. It's difficult to go so far when I've never been before, don't know anyone, etc.
Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions.
