Yeah, it can get cluttered, but you don't have to see our convo as an argument. Have you come to any new understanding of the question you asked the board in light of your own reactions to these thought experiments? In my experience, christian people (because who else would be thanking the christian god, right?) have trouble thanking god for things because they do not truly believe god is responsible for those things. It's cultural, because other people who have a shared belief system constantly remind themselves that everything which happens... happens because it's the will of god.
I suppose there's a question of religiosity underneath this - but it would follow that if we wanted people to remember to credit god more, we would quickly and inevitably arrive at many situations or circumstances that christians would have difficulty thanking god for not because god isn't responsible - or that they do not believe god is responsible.... but because they're not thankful for them.
