From Historum:

Quote:Labels are ugly and the label 'birthers' is just that, name calling to belittle something or someone you don't like.
People who don't like this issue relish in calling people names and they are so quick to make this who issue about race.
It is not, but its a nice ugly blanket to cover your opponent with, to again, make them look bad.
People who question the president's birth are calling into the possible question of
where he was born. People who question this just don't like B.O. as president
and want someone else. They are pointing out his many many flaws as president.
Its all political, not racial.
Just as much time as spent by those who believe this issue, all their opponents
spent an equal amount of time arguing counter points. So who's wasted more time
in keeping this afloat? There's equal blame and name calling to cover everyone.

The right wing, particularly the radical right, feeds on fear, so I think you're right about that.

It was left wing backlash against the way Bush ran the country into the ground that promoted Obama to the White House. The betrayal is the way he's pandered to the right wing in some futile quest for bipartisanship and continuously thrown his base under the bus.

Like I said, whether its fair or not to put blame on Obama, that is what the douchebags like Pastor Stevens is doing. And yes, the left wing backlash did get Obama into the White House WITH no small help from a large portion of disenchanted right wingers who wanted so much to believe in their country again that they voted in a direction that they never had before. I personally know a lot of "conservatives" who decided to give Obama a shot because they were so sick of the condition of our country. Now those swing voters are swinging back and thus ... the remarks in my original post.

(basically paladin, I agree)

Now, normally I would agree with this quote. The evidence, on the other hand, goes contrary to this quote. Obama posted his BC for all to see on the net, and yet the birthers still claimed it wasnt legit. Obama posted newspaper clippings of his birth announcement, and the brithers STILL claimed it wasnt legit, now he posted his long form and they STILL claim it isnt legit.

The birther conspiracy theory basically suggest that Obama was able to fool the DOD, the judicial branch, the legislative branch, the executive branch, the FBI, the CIA, Homeland Security, and every Republican opponent. The birthers are suggesting, from a whim, that they know more than ALL of these institutions based on a hunch.

If Obama was born in Kenya, SURELY the Republicans would have proven it LONG before any of the other depts in the govt would have.

Not all birthers are racist, I am sure, but many of them that I have talked to online usually have racist avatars mocking Obama or his wife as if they are monkeys, gorillas, or wookees or such.

Yes, that's why the birthers are also demanding to see John McCain's birth certificate. Oh wait, they're not.

Does anyone honestly think that if McCain had won, this would be an issue at all? And does anyone think that if McCain had shown two forms of his birth certificate they would be claiming that they were both fake? Would anyone be calling McCain an "usurper?"

Quote:Even if Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama had been birthed in the Lincoln Bedroom of the White House he is NOT a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

How much more natural born can you get? Unless if he were white, that is.

Yes, I know that not all birthers are racist, but I'm firmly convinced that most of the birthers are driven by the fact that there's a black man in the White House. And nobody can deny that the birthers will never be satisfied with any or all evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii. The only way they'd be satisfied were if he were removed from office and replaced with a white, conservative Christian Republican.

Free Republic members "Freepers" are as psycho as you can get when it comes to right wing. If you show just an ounce of leniency in social or economic veiws then you are branded as a Marxist who wants to steal wealth, a social darwinist who wants to kill white babies, and the ban hammer could come at any moment.

Oh, they don't mind a black man in the White House, D/T..... as long as he peels potatoes or serves drinks to the white man running the show.

That document doesn't prove a thing! It is a Certificate of Live Birth not a Birth Certificate! Big Grin
