Nope, certainly nothing racist with that last one...

Oh, they enjoy slipping the racism in and being not so subtle about it..and if anyone points it out, then THEY are the racists..obviously, because only racists point out racism.

If the birthers or tea-partiers aren't racist, why don't they just condemn examples of racism in their own ranks?

Same goes with right wing violence. The far right in my country just hates it when anyone points out the 20 something "isolate incidents" of unhinged people acting out from all their violent rhetoric. Fine, speak out against political violence and call for the prosecution of any who perpetrate it, including your followers.

Didn't the head of one of the tea party groups make some racist comments on his blog a while back? Kind of hard to claim that your organization isn't racist when the head of it is, and isn't removed because of it.

But yes, silence in this case is approval, or at least gives the impression of it. And as someone once told me, "people's perceptions are reality."

Well, this might not be a popular thing to say, but the modern conservative movement has always exploited racist elements on the right, starting with Nixon and Goldwater. Sad to say, it works.
