Back then (empire days), the poverty level and tax levels were fucking awful. I probably would of ran over to the states myself. Of course things are quite different today, and I'm happy with the way the country is now. It's free, it's fair and I'm very happy here. We have our crummy leaders like you do, but all in all, I'm quite happy to call myself a Brit.

Besides, you're not all good anyway, what happened to the indigenous people over there? Also, the second world war may of still been won even without the aid of the Americans, Nazi forces and supplies will eventually become too stretched to fight off so many nations. Either way, you had to get involved, Hitler wanted the world under nazi rule, including the US.

To be really honest with you, if I was to run into battle, I'd want an American standing by my side. We are family after all. We've had our disputes, you deserve your independence and we should work together like hell. Brit and American standing strong side by side.
But like brothers, we will bicker from time to time.
I still see you lot as one of us, it's just there is alot of water between us.
