All the while dressing it up as an 'ethical dilemma' as to whether they should release them or not. They weren't worried about pro-Saddam loyalists making martyrs out of sons Uday and Kusay nor about showing Saddam's execution and they certainly would love to satisfy the blood lust of the 'USA USA' chest-beaters by giving them evidence of their kill of one of their biggest enemies. Even if they released the photos, I might think that they were secretly photo-shopped anyways.

Yeah, I'm a conspiracy nuts. Dodgy

Saddam didn't have a religious following the same way Bin Laden has. Saddam was a secular dictator.

Those idiots tend to think Obama is a secret Marxist fascist socialist Muslim terrorist anyway so there's no way he can satisfy them.

Redundant. They don't know those words mean anything different from each other.

Sarcasm is hard to convey online.

What I meant to say was that these are the same people who tend to think Obama is a Commie mutant Marxist Fascist baby-eating Muslim atheist dirty rotten no-good traitor terrorist who wants to pull the plug on grandma and force everyone to have a gay marriage.

Tongue I got it, but I like that you made the longer one - the exaggeration made it funnier.

Yes, I know. What are religions but disgracefully ambitious conspiracy tales, sometimes backed by culturally inherited tradition of credulity?

Secular dictator or not, what matters is that they are both seen to be terribly evil men by Americans and even by many Muslims. I don't like them either.

Who cares what some idiots think about him? He is the president of America afterall, isn't he? He can allow the media to show planes crashing into a building and people jumping off from the windows, over and over again, but now he's afraid of showing a picture of a dead man just because it's gruesome? Yeah sure.

I think it's a mistake to not release the photos, since all the conspiracy nuts will be claiming that we didn't really get Osama. Didn't Obama learn anything from all the birther nonsense? I guess maybe he did, since even if he did release the photos, the conspiracy nuts will simply just claim that they're faked.

Irrelevent what you think of them. It is a very convincing theory that more people are more likely to be highly motivated to revenge by pictures of dead bin laden than by pictures of dead Hussein. In any case, the dead Hussein and sons pictures was issued by a previous administration with an stellar track record of moronic tough boy posturing and half-cocked braggadocio. It is rather disingenuous to urge a country with variable standards be consistent with the lowest standard it has set for itself.

Because gruesome pictures of people you care about motivates you to revenge, whereas gruesome pictures of people your enemy cares about motivates your enemy to revenge.

So hopefully you might understand why we would be wiser to show gruesome picture of Bin laden's victims than our victims at a time when we are at war.
