I Love You Enough to Burn You
RE: I Love You Enough to Burn You
Ah the unspoken implications of faiths formed by committee and then represented as fact. Only took one sadist suggesting hell to turn every believer into an accomplice.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Hell is just a tool to instil fear to encourage people to join the sheep club. A mere motivational tool. Fear is not the best or most effective motivator.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

No, incentive is. Thus Heaven.

In the end, it all comes down to whether or not you can accept such a disgusting tool of a God by rationalizing his inadequacies away.
Oh, he can't forgive? Oh, he won't change his mind but still loves us? Jesus.
He created hell and Satan, and countless deaths due to suffering that occurs daily, and he is supposedly the source of much everyday suffering as it is obviously only "just" punishment, but He is all loving? An obvious logical contradiction. The believer would likely only reply with a "You can't understand God..." statement, but even that implies that he made me so it would be my nature to deny Him.\
He cannot send non-believers to hell, but make them at the same time, assuming he is omnibenevolent.
I see salty used the free will defence. He cannot interfere due to our free will, in summary. Pathetic. Then how can he punish us? How can Satin harass us? How can miracles occur, and biblical maricles be witnessed? How can heaven exist as a place of both free will and perfection? That implies that God is capable of making a perfect world where there is no suffering, or could also submit to heaven's nonexistance.
All in all, most arguments for a Christian God can be defeated my only the slightest reasoning.
My conclusion is that there is no reason to believe any of the dogmas of traditional theology and, further, that there is no reason to wish that they were true.
Man, in so far as he is not subject to natural forces, is free to work out his own destiny. The responsibility is his, and so is the opportunity.

This is generally what happens on a daily basis here Skepsis. But no matter how many times those flaws are pointed out they always come back with some bullshit or other.

You really should do an Intro thread, most of us want to say hello before we just jump on in. Wilkommen anywho.

Perhaps, but if you generally don't consider it disrespectful I would like to skip that. I have grown so weary of doing this for different things, as it is the beginning of the school year, that just the thought of writing another introduction propagates more dread in my metaphorical fields.

All the best.
BTW, I have been following you around for about an hour, looking at your posts. Probobly shouldn't post that I did, but hey.
Anyhoo, I agree with you on nearly every topic discussed.

No worries, eventually, somewhere, we'll find an ugly disagreement. We are human beings right?

Don't worry. Atheists don't kill people who happen to disagree with them. We leave that to the Muslims and the Christians.
