You don't believe anything exists other than minds? Reality existing independently from experience means we experience an objective reality, the light from the sun reflects off a rock and into our eyes - that is where our experience of the rock begins - We did not experience it before the photons hit the retina and the rock would still exist without anyone to experience it.

You are imposing your 'interconnectedness', at least you seemed to be implying that you could not revere nature without your 'god' concept.

'The world' is a subjective entity. Presuming you believe the intersubjective is a reality, it is likely intersubjectively real.

But the world is a thing, and the denotation of a thing requires a perspective. Hence objectivity, with no perspective, would not have any things at all. Everything exists, but what everything is remains another question entirely

I think 'god' is a perfectly acceptable lable for what you are describing Dreamer, in line with the accepted wider definitions.

I agree a rock would still be there without experience--but without experience, no knowledge or understanding of the rock--so how could an objective reality even begin to be described? That is more my issue. Not that reality cannot be objective necessarily, but I cannot fathom it, really--what would be the point? And no I don't believe that minds are the only thing that exist >.<

And I am not implying at all that I could not have respect for nature without my ideas about God. But my ideas do certainly enhance my respect and love for others.

What's wrong with hippies?

I learned quite a bit about what is right and kind with people from the hippies when I was a youngling of the 70's and 80's. There is nothing wrong with hippies...unless they are chaining themselves to trees.

Never met a hippy that chained themself to a tree before..but I have met a few who "disowned" soap and under arm deoderant.

They were still right minded people. We could use a few of them right now.
